DESCRIPTION:April is Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month\, and in honor of Denim Day\, an internationally recognized day to take a stand against victim-blaming\, Sierra Community House is hosting an event to bring awareness and education around sexual violence.\n\n\n\nDuring the event on April 23rd\, Close to Home Truckee will host an open mic poetry slam session where community members are invited to share their own poetry.\n\n\n\nWe are hosting a free poetry workshop at Sierra College so that participants can learn about poetry writing and work on their pieces. \n\n\n\nCome to Sierra College at 5:30 pm and learn the basics of poetry writing\, work on your own piece\, get feedback\, and refine it. \n\n\n\nThen join us for Denim Day on April 23 from 11:00 - 12:00 at the Truckee Train Depot for an open mic poetry slam to break the stigma around sexual violence in our community.
