Explore one of the Truckee Donner Land Trust’s latest projects on snowshoes. Learn about the successful acquisition of Truckee Springs, 26 acres of beautiful open space along the Truckee River in downtown Truckee.
On this unique snowshoe tour, you will hear about the significance of this property – from recreation opportunities with trails and river access, to habitat protection, to ensuring the land remains open space and protected from development. Hear stories of its colorful history including C.F. McGlashan’s Ice Palace in the early 1900s created to showcase winter snow play, ice skating, toboggans, and more to gain the attention of potential tourists.
Meet at 4:00 pm in front of Moody's downtown. From there, we will walk to the property entrance together. Bring your own snowshoes or rent a pair beforehand. This 2+ hour event will include 1 hour of snowshoeing.
