Good Morning Truckee - Forest Health & Land Access in Truckee-Tahoe
We'll hear from John Svahn, Executive Director of Truckee Donner Land Trust (TDLT), about numerous forest restoration projects - totalling more than $2.5 million - that TDLT has tackled across several TDLT-secured and managed open spaces. We're happy to have Truckee River District Ranger Jonathon Cook Fisher of Tahoe National Forest/the U.S Forest Service back for an update on our local forests. Our third speaker will be Northstar Community Services District, General Manager Mike Staudenmayer, will present about the Tahoe Biomass Project. For our brief nonprofit update, we'll hear from Executive Director Laura Abbey Brown of Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education.
Good Morning Truckee is a community forum to provide timely, relevant information on a variety of topics. It is open to the public – everyone is invited. It is held the third Tuesday of every month at Truckee Town Hall from 7:45-9:15 a.m. Good Morning Truckee is offered in person and is recorded for viewing at a later date if you are unable to attend in person. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the program starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. Ticket price for the general public is $15 and $10 for Truckee Chamber members and includes a continental breakfast and ticket for a chance to win a door prize. NEW for 2024: Bring your business card that will act as your drawing for your door prize. If you do not have one, we will have blanks for you to be entered.
These events are very popular and great for meeting other community members. Whether you are new or have lived here for years, hearing from our leaders in the community is an enjoyable way to stay on top of important issues, connect and engage. One of the great things about living in a small community like Truckee is that you can personally know your leaders and work with them to make a difference.
