Open Mic Poetry Slam for Sexual Assault Awareness

Join poet performers in celebration of speaking out and sharing support for survivors and the empowering effects of art. This poetry slam is a space in which people are allowed and encouraged to share their poem to help break the stigma around violence within communities.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month, and in honor of Denim Day, an internationally recognized day to take a stand against victim-blaming, Sierra Community House is hosting an event to bring awareness and education around sexual violence.

During the event on April 23rd, Close to Home Truckee will host an open mic poetry slam session where community members are invited to share their own poetry.

Whether you're sharing poetry or supporting the cause, please come to Denim Day on April 23 at the Truckee Train Depot for the Open Mic Poetry Slam to break the stigma around sexual violence in our community.
