Warming Up to Linen

Warming Up to Linen

An excellent first project for experimenting with linen, this little bath mitt is lovely, practical, and simple to knit. This three-hour class with knitwear designer Elizabeth Doherty will focus on getting comfortable with linen—how to avoid over-tensioning the yarn; understanding how linen fabric transforms with washing and wearing, and how to predict the look and hand of your finished fabric; as well as techniques for joining new skeins, weaving in ends, and making your stitches in linen look just plain beautiful.

Warm Springs is worked flat and finished tidily with a 3-needle bind-off. Easy garter and slip stitches create a perfectly scrubby texture, and eliminate the need to purl. Gift this luxurious mitt to a friend, or keep it to pamper yourself. The Quince & Co. Sparrow is a 100% organic linen that softens with each wash.
