Public Safety
The Northstar Fire Department has been serving the Northstar community since 1972. Our boundaries cover approximately five square miles, with a surrounding sphere of about 18 square miles. We operate under the Northstar Community Services District; an independent special services district.
The community if Northstar is home to one of Tahoe's premier ski resorts. During peak season, our community population can grow to more than 15,000 people. We accomplish our mission as an ''all risk'' department by providing fire prevention and suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services.
The Northstar Fire Department is staffed with well-trained, dedicated and caring professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All staff are professional fire fighters with extensive medical training. Each shift contains two captains, two engineers and one firefighter divided by our two stations, 31 and 32. In addition, we are staffed with a full-time Fire Chief, Fire Prevention Officer and Forestry Supervisor.
