About Us

Originally from Los Angeles, Jerry was a CPA and Donna a Tax Accountant before they moved to Truckee in 1989 and opened the White Buffalo. Donna's family has been in the “Native American Indian jewelry, arts, and crafts” business since 1970, and Donna and Jerry have continued the tradition in the wonderful town of Truckee, where their children grew up and where they enjoy the beautiful mountain community as a family.

The White Buffalo offers Native American goods from the Southwest, and through the years has evolved to add giftware, clothing, accessories, photography, hot sauces, and so much more. We strive to buy and sell products made in the USA.

The store carries an extensive inventory of gold and silver jewelry, including Gold Quartz from the Original 16 to 1 Mine located 50 miles west of Truckee. You will also find a large selection of traditional southwestern and contemporary jewelry from the Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and Santo Domingo tribes. Featured artists include Navajo jeweler Ray Tracey from New Mexico, who is known for his beautiful inlay work, and Mixtec jeweler Federico Jimenez from Southern California, who specializes in bold turquoise, spiny oyster shell, and coral jewelry set in unique designs. Other artists include Daniel Coriz, Christian Wolf, Holly Yashi, and Sergio Guiterrez, as well as the company Uno de 50 from Madrid, Spain.

In addition, the White Buffalo carries a large inventory of Native American Indian hand-made contemporary collectible pieces, such as Navajo rugs and Pueblo storytellers and pottery. We carry over 600 Zapotec rugs and
